Difference between 8.8" and 9" ford rear end?

jon: this is an article http://www.quickperformance.com/ninecase.htm that explains all you need to know about the 9". as far as the major diff with the 8.8 is that it is not a front removable center section (punkin type). the ring gear and spiders all come out the back. the axles are held in by clips as opposed to the 9" which is held in by the outbord bearings/ retainer ring.
